The Trench
Installation
2020
This installation is a study on both my romanticised view on life in the trenches of World War I and my feelings of affiliation, association with the men my age who died in this war.
The building of my own small trench was a process of dealing with my personal struggle with the guilt I feel towards these men.
The installation was made through long and hard labour, gathering materials, making and transporting sandbags. Slowly while immersing myself in testimonials and stories of these soldiers and the physical labour, the trench formed.
